OUR VISION
Decade Initiative, a satirical site, imagines a truly sustainable Canada , with 10 million people in 2120, abandoning fig leaves in favour of real harmony with the biosphere. We envision a Canada that’s a realistic forward thinking and influential, not via competing in a baby race in the Ponzi scheme cult of endless growth, celebrating realism and intelligent steady state economics, creative new solutions such as vast localized libraries and librarians to preserve culture and diversity without endless growth and homogenization. We build on historical indigenous knowledge from around the world which created tens of thousands of years of wealth and abundance with harmonious migratory agriculture, hunting and gathering, and a shining light of what a real small intelligent footprint is, without destroying the f__ing biosphere. A kind of DystopiaDefiance.
We support increased refugee welcome, with an eye to to global biosphere, not just our wonderful biologically diverse backyard, and encouragement/incentives of the existing trends of empowerment leading to lower population growth.
A cheap simple relatively painless approach is no children for 60 years. You say, that would lead to zero population. Not true. Refugees, and disobedient people. Perhaps general defiance or non-compliance is a good trait to select for. You could also ask a random person to have a child for each non-compliant child born to reduce the non-compliant selection bias.
